about me

I'm a daughter of two Broadway actors, an actress, single mom of 3 amazing teenagers, survivor of domestic violence and a fashion infused Mental Health Advocate.  In May 2021, I won the title and crown as Miss Virginia for America to continue my platform on a larger scale and won Miss Fitness at the National Miss for America competition in Las Vegas out of all of the 50 states at 43 years of age.  I had never competed in a pageant before winning Miss Virginia.

After personally living in dark moments of my own life with fears & anxiety, I learned how to overcome and survive with a passion to help others who may be struggling to help them overcome too. My passion is to empower my kids and everyone I meet by sharing my story and encouraging others to share theirs too.

In the public eye, I'm a motivational speaker and spokeswoman on many platforms including Heather Marie Speaks & RVA Fashion Week, sharing encouragement to thousands of listeners weekly as well as in corporate settings both virtually and in person.

I have given exclusive mental health consultations to help people on a personal level with multi-layered lifestyles, whether it's in the dark secrets of fame or from the stress and anxiety that can find its way into the lives of many successful people.

I'm an entrepreneur who has thrived in the business management and operations fields most of my life and a Jane of all trades.  From walking runways to running businesses, acting in award winning films & releasing a new single with the well known DJ & producer, Andrew Hypes to winning the title of Miss Virginia, 2021 was full of excitement.

In 2022 after winning Miss Fitness at the Nationals Miss for America, I decided to check off another bucket list item and signed up for my first bikini fitness competition with NPC.  During my prepping, I found a lump in my breast that turned out to be an aggressive hormone driven breast cancer.  This battle against breast cancer became another chapter in my story.

Speaking Topics

Mental Health

Heather has been an advocate for mental health since 2009 and has spoken globally to audiences on the importance of taking care of your mental health.  She shares tips on how to find balance in your mind, body and soul helping people to thrive in their lives.

"Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood."

Time Management

Whether she is speaking to a high school, college or corporation, Heather shares the importance of time management to allow people to learn skills in productivity and making the most of their day.

"Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between specific activities. Good time management enables you to work smarter – not harder – so that you get more done in less time, even when time is tight and pressures are high."

setting goals

Heather shares the importance of making realistic goals on a daily basis as well as on an annual basis by implementing vision boards to allow people to grow in their lives and careers and reach their full potential to prosper in life.

"Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality. The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life."

Breast Cancer Awareness

As a survivor of breast cancer, Heather shares the importance of being your own advocate and listening to your body.  Cancer treatments are not a one size fits all.  Everyone is created uniquely and every cancer has it's own DNA.
